cloudDNA wins Best in EMEA award at Igel Disrupt 23

Igel Expert Partner

We’re delighted to announce that we picked up the award for the best case study in EMEA at the Igel Disrupt EUC event held in Munich this week.

Markerstudy Group is the UK’s 6th largest motor insurance provider with over 3 million policy holders and more than 1,000 broker partners. When Covid-19 forced the closure of its offices in 2020, the IT team rapidly needed to deploy an endpoint solution that would enable over 3,000 staff members to securely work from home. In addition, the group was just about to close the acquisition of the Co-operative Insurance, and Brightside Insurance, both of which had legacy Windows based endpoint devices that added to the challenge.

Markerstudy Group saves over £1million with Igel

Instead of purchasing new hardware to support the new users, the group re-purposed the existing end point devices with Igel OS, saving over £1 million in hardware refresh costs and removing the need to dispose of over 1,000 desktop PCs. This in turn significantly reduced the environmental impact of the acquisitions, helping the group achieve its sustainability objectives. Watch the video below or read the case study

Secure, efficient, sustainable

cloudDNA CTO Al Taylor accepts the award from Jed Ayres, Igel CEO at Disrupt 23, Munich

Adam Miller, Chief Information Officer at Markerstudy Group – “We’ve repurposed £1 million worth of hardware – that’s over 1,000 devices – which we would otherwise have had to purchase. This extends the life of equipment, sweats assets longer and supports our environmental, social and governance agenda.”

Al Taylor, cloudDNA’s Chief Technology Officer, says “From acquisition to lockdown, Igel has helped Markerstudy rapidly adapt to the dynamic needs of the business with a one size fits all OS that’s secure, operationally efficient and can be deployed for every user scenario from the head office to the home worker. Being able to repurpose hardware with IGEL OS has also extended endpoint lifespan, reduced the impact of chip shortages with various sustainability benefits too.”

Simon Townsend, IGEL’s Chief Marketing Officer, says, “The flexibility offered by IGEL in tandem with Citrix Cloud Services shows how organisations like Markerstudy can really grapple with the work from anywhere new normal.  The desktop OS and VDI architecture is designed to ensure security, simple access, consistency, the ability to scale, simplified management and – the best bit – lower cost.”
