The Citrix Universal subscription lets you deploy workloads on-premises, in the cloud, or a hybrid environment with a single licence. You have access to all the features from both Citrix on-premises and cloud editions, ensuring you can get the most out of your environments.
What is the Citrix Universal subscription?
The Citrix Universal subscription is a flexible licence model from Citrix that allows you to use both IT Managed Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) (either on-premises and/or cloud-based) and Citrix Desktop as a Service (Citrix DaaS) throughout the licence subscription period.
What are the benefits of Citrix Universal subscription?
Citrix Universal subscription gives you the option to deploy your Citrix infrastructure in any environment and combination you want, on-premises, public cloud, private cloud and Citrix Cloud services. This gives you the flexibility to put your applications and desktop workloads wherever you want.
Citrix Universal subscription provides more features than traditional Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD).
Using Citrix Universal subscription users can unlock new features not available to the traditional CVAD perpetual licence. Features such as an on-premises Web Studio, support for cloud hosted workloads, and access to cloud services such as Workspace Service and Global App configuration service.

What is Citrix DaaS with Hybrid Rights?
Citrix DaaS with Hybrid Rights is a Citrix subscription licence for Citrix DaaS as well as IT managed on-premises CVAD deployment. However, the Hybrid Rights is a time-limited licence with a focus on assisting you to migrate away from your on-premises deployments to Citrix DaaS.

Does Citrix Universal subscription limit the firmware versions you are running?
No, you can run any versions of firmware from Citrix Cloud, current release and/or long-term service release (LTSR).
Best practices suggest you should keep your environments as up to date as possible, but the Citrix Universal subscription doesn’t prevent you from running mixed firmware platforms.
What licensing models are supported by Citrix Universal subscription?
Citrix Universal subscription supports both the user/device licence and the concurrent user licence.
What licence is consumed when a user accesses both Citrix DaaS and Citrix CVAD environments?
A user who accesses both the Citrix DaaS and the Citrix on-premises CVAD environments will consume just a single licence.
Is there a limit on the number of Citrix Universal subscription?
There is a minimum order quantity of 250 licences. However, if you currently have Citrix DaaS and/or Citrix DaaS with Hybrid Rights you can renew, expand or migrate to Universal at any quantity.
How are Citrix Universal subscription managed?
Citrix DaaS licences are managed by Citrix Cloud. Citrix CVAD/on-premises are managed by an on-premises Citrix licence.
